Buddha vs Quake: Which First Legendary Should You Buy?

This is the first real decision most Blox Fruits players make with saved-up value, and one of the two answers has aged much better than the other.

Side by side comparison of the Buddha and Quake devil fruits facing each other

The short answer

For almost every player in 2026, Buddha is the better buy. Quake was the stronger pick for years, but its area nerf changed the comparison and its trade value has been sliding since.

Quake still has a case in one specific situation, covered below.

How they compare on grinding

Buddha's transformation increases your size, which extends the hitbox of every melee attack and sword swing you own. That turns single-target weapons into area weapons, and it is the reason Buddha remains the standard recommendation for levelling.

Quake deals its own area damage with shockwaves, which sounds equivalent but is not. Buddha improves the gear you already have; Quake replaces it. If you have invested in a sword or melee style, Buddha compounds that investment.

How they compare in PvP

Neither is a competitive PvP fruit in 2026. Buddha makes you a larger target and is easy to punish. Quake's shockwaves are slow and telegraphed, and skilled players simply move.

If PvP is your priority, both are the wrong purchase. Portal or awakened Dough is where competitive players actually spend.

Trade value and direction

Buddha's demand sits at maximum because it is permanently recommended to new players, which means it always finds a buyer. Its permanent version is a common centrepiece in large trades.

Quake's value has been falling since its area nerf. It remains widely recognised and easy to trade, but you are buying into a declining asset. Current figures for both are on the value list.

When Quake is still the right call

If you have no sword or melee investment at all — you are running a gun build, or you simply have not committed to a fighting style — Buddha's main advantage does not apply to you. Quake gives you area damage that works on its own.

It is also cheaper, and for a player who wants a Legendary today rather than saving another week, that is a legitimate reason.

What to do with the one you do not pick

Neither is a fruit you keep forever. Both are stepping stones toward Mythical tier, and both trade reasonably well when you are ready to move up.

Questions

Is Buddha still good in 2026?

Yes, for grinding. It remains the standard recommendation for levelling a melee or sword build and its demand stays at maximum.

Why did Quake lose value?

Its area coverage was reduced in a balance pass, which weakened the crowd-clearing that made it popular. Value has drifted downward since.

Should I buy the permanent version of either?

Only if you are certain. Perm Buddha is the safer of the two because its demand is unlikely to fall, but neither is a fruit most players main long term.
