How to Awaken a Fruit in Blox Fruits
Awakening is the biggest fragment sink in the game, and a meaningful share of players spend it on a fruit that barely changes.
Where awakening happens
Awakening is handled by the Beast Hunter in the Second Sea, reached through the Colosseum area. You will need fragments, which come from raids, bosses and certain quests.
Raids are the main source by a wide margin. Running raids with a fruit you already have chips is the standard loop.
What awakening actually does
Awakening replaces individual moves with upgraded versions. It is not a flat damage buff to the whole fruit — you unlock moves one at a time, and each costs fragments separately.
This matters because a fruit's reputation often rests on one or two awakened moves. Awakening the wrong move first can leave you feeling like nothing improved.
Fruits where awakening genuinely transforms them
Some fruits are simply a different item once awakened. Dough is the clearest case — unawakened it is a fraction of the fruit people pay for, and awakened it is a top competitive pick.
Venom is similar. Its sustained damage profile only comes together after awakening, and unawakened Venom badly underperforms its price.
Buddha extends its transformation further, which directly improves the grinding speed that made it popular in the first place.
Fruits where it is optional
Leopard and Rumble are strong before awakening and better after. Worth doing if you main them, not urgent otherwise.
Several Mythicals including Kitsune, Gas and Portal do not use the standard awakening path at all — their ceiling comes from mastery and player skill instead.
Fruits where it is a waste
Anything Uncommon or Common. The fragments cost the same regardless of the fruit's value, so awakening a starter fruit converts a scarce resource into nothing.
Low-demand Rares are also questionable. Awakening does not increase a fruit's trade value, so you are spending fragments purely on personal use.
Does awakening raise trade value?
No, and this surprises people constantly. Awakening is tied to your account's mastery progress, not to the fruit item itself. When you trade the fruit away, the awakening does not travel with it.
That means awakening is a gameplay decision only. If you are planning to trade a fruit on, put the fragments elsewhere. Check what the fruit is actually worth on the value list first.

Questions
How many fragments does awakening cost?
It varies by fruit and by move, and each move is purchased separately. Budget for several thousand fragments to fully awaken a major fruit, which is many raid runs.
Does awakening a fruit increase its trade value?
No. Awakening is tied to your account progress, not the item. The fruit trades at the same value awakened or not.
What is the best fruit to awaken first?
Whichever you actually main. If you are choosing purely on impact, Dough and Venom change the most from awakening.
Before any trade, total both sides in the Blox Fruits value calculator. It takes ten seconds and it is the difference between trading and guessing.
